Advanced Manufacturing (LFAM)

Large Format Additive Manufacturing for Marine and Industrial Applications

Coastal Marine Projects is establishing a UK-based advanced manufacturing capability focused on large-format additive (LFAM) manufacturing for marine, industrial and specialist applications. In collaboration with Rapid Fusion, this capability is intended to support the production of large structures, tooling, moulds, components and assemblies with greater speed, flexibility and production agility.

Built around a 12m-track LFAM platform, the capability is being developed to support large-format production, repeatable manufacture and scalable prototype-to-production workflows. CMP will operate as a manufacturing and integration partner, helping customers assess feasibility and move applications toward commercial delivery.

Applications

Large Format Additive Manufacturing enables fast, flexible production of large polymer structures, tooling and specialist components across a wide range of sectors. With applications spanning USVs, marine vessels, mould tooling, construction, offshore and bespoke projects, our LFAM capability helps customers move from concept to full-scale manufacture with greater speed and design freedom.

Defence, Security & Research

Rapid-Deployment USV Systems

Large-format printed structures for unmanned and autonomous vessels. Designed for defence, security, research, survey and science applications, LFAM supports fast design iteration, payload and equipment integration, modular platform development and a quicker route from concept to complete full-scale build.

Marine & Leisure Vessels

Full Vessels, Hybrid Builds & Custom Parts

Large-format polymer printing for commercial, leisure and inland waterway vessels. LFAM supports full vessel concepts, hybrid construction methods and custom marine components including hull sections, decks, dashboards, helm consoles, seating modules, battery housings, lockers, hatches and equipment integration.

Mould Tooling, Plugs & Patterns

Faster Tooling for Large-Scale Production

Large-format printed moulds, plugs, patterns, casting tools and production aids for marine and wider industrial applications. LFAM offers a faster, lower-cost route to hull plugs, GRP moulds, composite layup tools, concrete casting forms, trim fixtures and one-off patterns.

Construction & Architecture

Forms, Features & Creative Structures

Large-format printed polymer components for construction, architecture, interiors and creative production. Applications include formwork, furniture, architectural features, decorative structures, public artwork, exhibition pieces, film sets, props and complex one-off shapes where scale, speed and design freedom matter.

Industrial & Offshore

Polymer Parts for Demanding Environments

Custom components for offshore, ports, utilities, aquaculture, agriculture and heavy industry. LFAM is suited to tanks, trays, ducting, cable management, guards, pipe supports, floats, covers, housings and corrosion-resistant replacement parts for wet, exposed and industrial environments.

Custom LFAM Projects

Bespoke Large-Format Applications

LFAM can support a wide range of applications beyond standard categories. From large components and one-off structures to specialist tooling, prototypes, replacement parts and creative builds, we work with customers to assess feasibility, materials, design approach and the best route to manufacture.
